4 Types of Roofing Materials

As a homeowner, roofing tends to be one of the least exciting things on the to do list. Question is, are you knowledgeable about the common types of roofing? Here at Alexander Roofing, we strive to educate our clients about general roofing and options available. Maybe you’re one who wants to repair the current roof or one who wants to explore other options available. In this blog, we will give insight to 4 common types of roofing.
First on our list is Composite or Asphalt Shingles. They are the most common type of roofing materials. Made of fiberglass, these three-tab shingles are topped with asphalt and mineral granules. Commonly having 20 to 30 year warranties, these are an all around great choice for home roofing needs.
Next on our list is Rolled Roofing. Rolled Roofing typically comes in rolls of 100 square feet, each about 3 feet wide. It’s a fast and dirt cheap way to roof buildings such as sheds or workshops. Although many would say it’s not the most attractive material, it’s recommended for buildings with low or no slope.
Metal Roofing is next on the list and it’s becoming a popular choice for high-end homes. This type of roofing is fire resistant and provides a boost in resale value. Although this type of material is great, this type of roofing is more expensive than some of the other roofing materials. Installation of this type must be provided by highly experienced professionals. Lucky for you, Alexander Roofing is here to help.
Last but not least on the list of materials is HyrdroStop. HydroStop has several layers of waterproofing coats that can be reapplied if issues occur. The material is UV resistant, flexible and offers protection from strong winds. This type of material usually last about 25 years.
We hope this information is helpful to you before you tackle your next roofing project. Here at Alexander Roofing, we want to help you make the decisions that are right for you and your home. We will be updating the blog often with different tips and useful information so continue to follow us.
